About SCVG

Background

Social Care Volunteer Group (SCVG) was founded by 7 young social activists in Magway, Myanmar. Social Care Volunteer Group (SCVG) is a non-profit and youth-led civil society organization based in Magway, Myanmar. SCVG has been approved and granted the registration at the regional level (registration no. 2/ Magway/ 0006).

Since its inception, SCVG has convened range of activities such as youth capacity building, health education and promoting HIV/AIDS awareness sessions both in Magway and surrounding rural areas. In 2009, with the support of MTV/Staying Alive Foundation, SCVG carried out a project on “Promoting awareness on HIV/AIDS and Preventing incidence of HIV/AIDS among In-school youths in Magway”. To date, SCVG has been carrying out different projects comprising children rights and governance, child protection, rule of law and access to justice, supporting healthy school technologies and materials for adolescents, youth capacity building, disaster management, gender sensitivity in health services, etc.

As of 2018, after 11 years of the organization’s existence, SCVG has reached 396 villages in 17 townships of Magway Region and an estimated population of 87449 directly benefited from 19 projects which invested a total of 603,851,477 MMK during the period.

Mission

Social Care Volunteer Group (SCVG) that stands as a non-profit and youth-led society organization is implementing the programs related to the following key areas in order to promote the roles of children and youths and to ensure their right to participate in the comprehensive development process of Myanmar.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors (BoD) is mainly responsible and accountable for guiding and directing everything needed to keep the organization on the right track in order to realize the SCVG’s vision, setting up duties clearly and precisely between the management and the organization’s administration, for giving guidance and directions on overall program implementations, and for the matters of responsibility and transparency in the organization.

Members of Board of Directors once served in different managerial positions under different names in the organization. Therefore, hereby we would like to acknowledge their voluntary contribution either in managerial or advisory services towards the organization.

Resource Pool

Resource Pool Members are former members of the organization who are now away pursuing their different courses of life. They do not work as employees of SCVG but they extend their helping hands, contribute their knowledge and experiences, and provide short-term technical assistance upon request of the organization.
There are, so far, over (29) Resource Pool Members.
